I stayed with an excellent Warmshowers host in Baton Rouge, Mark. He is a bicycle advocate who has not had a car for 25 years and works in the library at the University. Sadly I did not have much time to chat with him, after resting and cooking dinner (blackened catfish, guacamole and salad), he even rode with me the 25 km out of town!
The water table is so high in Louisiana that all the graves are above ground. The first 3 pictures are of a cemetery in the 9th ward, the rest are of Lafitte Cemetery.
No plans! The ride from NewOrleans to Baton Rouge was great along the Mississippi River bike trail.
I decided that waiting for the snow to fall at home was not on, so I decided to meet a fellow I did not know in New Orleans and head west, with the ultimate intention of cycling down the Baja Peninsula. Mike From Pueblo, Colorado, is embarking on a cycle touring adventure for the first time! So far, so good.
